Signal Generator
Choose a signal generator by the task you need to perform. This collection includes instruments that create test waveforms, portable sources that simulate process signals, and meters that measure an incoming frequency. Their output and measurement ranges describe different functions, so check the exact model before ordering.
Choose by task
- Waveform testing: For sine, square, pulse, or arbitrary waveforms, compare the JDS2900 dual-channel DDS generator with the required waveform and model variant. Check output frequency by waveform, channel count, amplitude at the intended frequency, and load.
- Process voltage and current: For 0-10V or 4-20mA work, see the portable voltage and current source. Confirm the supported mode, connections, and source or simulation procedure for the exact instrument. A process signal source is not a substitute for a waveform generator.
- Temperature-sensor signals: If your task involves thermocouple or RTD signals, compare the signal and thermocouple calibrator and verify the required sensor type and mode against its documentation.
- Frequency measurement: If you need to measure an incoming signal rather than generate one, browse the frequency counters. Do not treat a meter's input measurement range as the output range of a generator.
Compare specifications for your test
For waveform output, check the frequency limit for the selected waveform and variant, output amplitude at that frequency, channel count, and load. For process signals, check current or voltage modes and whether the instrument sources, simulates, or measures the signal. Features such as modulation, sweep, and arbitrary waveform storage vary by model; use the individual product specifications to confirm them.
