Compare roast color between coffee batches with the Linshang LS177C coffee roast colorimeter. A 50mm measurement aperture accommodates coffee bean samples, and the 7-inch touchscreen presents SCAA/Agtron, HCCI, roast-degree and CIE Lab readings. The benchtop format suits roasters who need a consistent numerical record alongside their existing roast assessment.
Roast indices and color comparison
The LS177C uses D/8 SCI optical geometry with a D65 illuminant and 10-degree observer. A measurement takes approximately 1.5 seconds. Coffee-specific sample dishes provide a repeatable way to present the material over the opening. Keep the fill level and bean placement consistent when comparing batches, since an uneven sample surface can affect the reading.
Use the roast-index display to record a batch result, or compare a sample with a saved reference using CIE Lab and ΔE*ab. Color readings describe the measured sample appearance. Roast-profile decisions can then incorporate the other checks used in your production process.

Calibration and reporting
White-tile calibration establishes the optical reference. The coffee settings also support multipoint SCAA calibration and an HCCI coefficient, allowing the instrument to follow the reference procedure used in your workflow. Apply the same settings to both a reference batch and later comparisons.
Bluetooth links the instrument to the LSColor mobile app, and USB connects it to Windows software. Review measurements, export records and prepare reports for batch documentation. Clean the sample dish between materials and keep the measurement opening clear so residual beans or particles do not influence the next sample.
