Description
The Linshang LS177 large-aperture spectrophotometer measures color across a 50mm sample opening. Its benchtop design suits powder, plastic masterbatch, textured cloth and opaque liquid samples, where a wider measurement area helps capture a representative portion of the material. The 7-inch touchscreen displays color values and spectral reflectance for routine incoming-material and production checks.
Color measurement across a wider sample
D/8 integrating-sphere geometry with specular reflection included (SCI) provides the measurement basis. A full-spectrum LED illuminates the sample, with reflectance displayed from 400 to 700nm at 10nm intervals. The D65 illuminant and 10-degree observer give a consistent reference for comparing batches under the same settings. A reading takes approximately 1.5 seconds.
Available outputs include CIE Lab, Luv, LCh, Yxy, RGB and CMYK, along with whiteness, yellowness and reflectance values. The instrument also offers several color-difference formulas, including ΔE*ab and ΔE00, so a quality-control procedure can use its chosen calculation.
Repeatable batch comparison
Save a reference color and compare subsequent samples against it. An adjustable color-difference threshold supports pass/fail decisions based on your own acceptance criteria. Repeatability is specified as a standard deviation of ΔE*ab ≤0.03 for 30 measurements of a white calibration tile at three-second intervals after calibration.

Data review and sample handling
Bluetooth connects to the LSColor mobile app, while USB supports Windows software for reviewing measurements, exporting data and preparing reports. Keep the calibration tile and sample opening clean, and use consistent sample depth, coverage and placement across a batch. Opaque liquids can be presented in suitable sample cuvettes. Consistent preparation is especially important for loose powders and uneven granules.
