Description

The Linshang LS173 D/8 colorimeter uses diffuse illumination, an 8-degree viewing arrangement and the specular component included (SCI). Its 8 mm aperture and touchscreen workflow support color comparison of paint, plastics, coated metal and other suitable surfaces.

D/8 SCI measurement with on-device comparison

Scan a reference and a sample on the 3.5-inch IPS touchscreen to compare their color values. Select the color difference formula and tolerance appropriate to the job, then use the QC result to check subsequent samples against that reference. Lab deviation values show how the sample differs in the three color channels.

D/8 SCI is a different optical arrangement from 45/0. For meaningful comparisons, use the same geometry, illuminant, formula and sample presentation throughout a series. The meter’s own display allows the basic scan and comparison workflow without connecting a phone.

Store colors and share comparison data

Built-in electronic charts can suggest nearby color codes, while personal libraries retain measured references. Closest-code matching is a reference tool, not a guarantee of a physical color match or an automatic mixing recipe.

Use Bluetooth with LSColor for mobile data handling, or connect by USB to Windows PC software to review comparison records, export data and generate reports. Keep the original reference and settings associated with results when sharing them.

Reference tile and surface preparation

The bottom cap contains the white calibration tile. Keep it clean and calibrate again after a long period without use. Position the aperture fully against a flat, clean and uniformly colored sample; the locating plate helps align the chosen area.

Repeatability of ΔE*ab ≤ 0.03 describes the stated calibrated white-tile test. It should not be read as an unconditional accuracy claim for every sample. Use measured values alongside the physical reference, since the screen’s displayed color can differ from the actual surface.
