Description
Description
The AS8800L is a flexible-probe combustible-gas leak detector. Its 35.5 cm probe, adjustable sensitivity and sound/light indications are features to compare for reaching and investigating suspected leak points. The stated methane sensitivity is not the same specification as a gas-specific measuring range.
Choose the Configuration for Your Measurement
- Probe: 35.5 cm flexible probe for positioning at a test point.
- Indications: Sound and light leak indications with adjustable sensitivity.
- Power: Three AA 1.5 V alkaline batteries are specified and are not included.

Product Details and Specifications
Portable combustible-gas leak checks
The AS8800L combustible gas detector uses a flexible probe with audible and visual indications for checking suspected leak points. Adjustable sensitivity helps follow changes in the detected response during a leak check.
Key Features
- Methane sensitivity: Variable sensitivity with a stated minimum of 50 ppm for methane.
- Startup: The stated warm-up time is less than 20 seconds.
- Dual Alarm System: Features both a loud sound alarm and a bright light alarm for audible and visible indications.
- Flexible Probe: A 35.5cm (13.98in) flexible probe allows you to access and test in hard-to-reach areas.
- Adjustable Sensitivity: Easily adjust the sensitivity to follow changes in the detected response.
- Portable & Lightweight: Compact and ergonomic design makes it easy to carry and operate with one hand.
- Low Battery Indicator: The low-battery indication prompts battery replacement.

Compare the Relevant Alternative
The MT8800/AT8800L product also uses a flexible-probe format, and its specifications list three AAA batteries. AS8800L specifies AA batteries and a 35.5 cm probe. Confirm the model and power format; the similar product names do not establish the same package.

Questions Before Ordering
Does minimum 50 ppm sensitivity mean a 0-50 ppm meter?
The stated 50 ppm figure describes methane sensitivity. For quantitative gas readings, compare a detector with a specified concentration range and display.
What if I need a concentration display in %LEL?
Compare a product that explicitly lists a %LEL display, such as CGD02. Select the reporting format required by the task rather than interpreting a leak indication as a concentration reading.
