Description
A 1400nm infrared channel gives the Linshang LS161A window film tint meter a distinct reference for comparing solar film samples. It reads visible light transmission and UV/IR rejection, with selectable display combinations on a color screen. The blue pocket-sized instrument is intended for thin films that fit its narrow measurement slot.
Choose the infrared reference for your film check
The LS161A measures infrared response at a peak wavelength of 1400nm. This channel differs from the 940nm reference used by the LS161, so identify the wavelength when recording or sharing results. Use a consistent channel to compare films within your own sample set.
The ultraviolet channel has a 365nm peak wavelength, and the visible channel follows the CIE photopic response over 380–760nm. Choose VLT alone, VLT/UVT/IRT, or VLT with ultraviolet and infrared rejection. These settings let you present the optical readings relevant to the comparison being made.
Color display and retained readings
Color-coded progress bars accompany the measurement values on the 240 x 240 TFT screen. Automatic 180-degree display rotation makes readings accessible when the meter is turned around. HOLD freezes the result so it can be read after the sample is removed. Cancel HOLD before starting another measurement.

Sample fit and routine use
Use film less than 0.8mm thick and position it across the slot's optical path. Switch the meter on with the slot empty to allow the self-test and calibration to finish. Four AAA alkaline batteries provide power, with automatic shutdown after three minutes without button operation.
The meter suits portable film demonstrations and routine comparisons of individual film pieces. Keep the sample and opening clean, then record the selected display mode with the result so a later check can use the same settings.
