Description
Description
The Linshang LS163 and LS163A window tint meters compare the optical properties of solar film, film-on-glass, compatible automotive side glass and other uniform transparent materials. Choose LS163 for three-parameter checks, or the seven-parameter LS163A for additional infrared and solar-energy readings. Both use a parallel light path and a 6mm-wide measuring slot.

Choose LS163 or the seven-parameter LS163A
LS163 measures visible light transmission, UV rejection or transmission, and infrared rejection or transmission at 940nm. Its three display layouts provide VLT with UVR/IRR, VLT with UVT/IRT, or VLT alone.
LS163A provides seven available optical parameters. Alongside visible light and UV, it provides infrared readings at 940nm and 1400nm, Full IR, total solar energy rejection (TSER) and solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC). Select the displayed parameter combination to suit the comparison. Record the chosen channel or solar-energy parameter with the result so measurements can be compared consistently.
| Measurement | LS163 | LS163A |

| Visible light | 380–760nm, CIE photopic response | 380–760nm, CIE photopic response |
| UV source | 365nm | 365nm |
| Infrared channels | 940nm | 940nm, 1400nm and Full IR |
| TSER range | — | 0.0–100% |
| SHGC range | — | 0.000–1.000 |
Fit the sample and establish the reference
The 6 x 58mm slot supports loose film and suitably sized glass samples. Check that the specimen fits the opening and reaches the optical measuring position. Use a clean, uniformly transparent test area and consistent placement when comparing samples.
Switch on with the slot empty and allow self-calibration to finish before inserting a specimen. The stated ±2% accuracy applies to colorless, transparent materials. Strong ambient light, an obstructed optical path or dust can prevent startup calibration. Keep the opening clear and follow the operating procedure when establishing a new reference.

Select a display and hold the reading
The backlit display rotates with the measuring orientation. On LS163A, a short button press with no sample in place switches the display interface. During measurement, a short press holds the result for viewing after the sample is removed. LS163 provides its three display layouts through the settings menu and also supports data hold.
