Description
Description
The Linshang LS216 multilayer ultrasonic thickness gauge measures coating layers using pulse-echo ultrasound. Its color touchscreen displays the echo waveform alongside thickness readings, helping the operator review the interfaces selected for measurement. Choose one main unit with a 15M-X0 or 2.5M-X0 probe to suit the coating and substrate combination.

Choose the probe for the coating
The 15MHz 15M-X0 probe is intended for surface coatings on materials such as plastics, wood and glass, with other supported substrate applications. The 2.5MHz 2.5M-X0 probe is intended for coatings on concrete, including polyurethane and polyurea applications. Each kit contains one selected probe.
| 15M-X0 | 15MHz, 6mm probe-face diameter. Range 13–5500μm at a sound velocity of 2200m/s. Accuracy ±(3μm + 3%H). |
|---|---|
| 2.5M-X0 | 2.5MHz, 10mm probe-face diameter. Range 50–8360μm at a sound velocity of 2200m/s. Accuracy ±(20μm + 3%H). |
| Accuracy reference | H is actual coating thickness |
| Resolution / units | 1μm / μm and mil |
| Sound velocity setting | 1000–9999m/s, default 2200m/s |
| Layer setting | One to three layers |
| Display | 800 x 480 IPS color touchscreen |
| Battery / charging | 3.7V, 4000mAh rechargeable lithium battery / USB Type-C, DC 5V |
| Main unit size / weight | 141.7 x 91.1 x 22.6mm / 475g, main unit only |

Review the echoes and layer settings
Set the number of layers, the sound velocity for each material and an estimated thickness. The measurement-range controls help reject unwanted echoes, while the waveform cursor supports inspection of the selected interface. Suitable acoustic contrast between layers is needed to produce distinct reflections.
Sound velocity can be selected from a material reference, calculated from a known-thickness sample or entered manually. Zero calibration and continuous measurement are available. Use a known sample of the same material when establishing the velocity setting for a job.
Records and surface preparation
The instrument stores up to 999 measurement records. A USB connection to dedicated PC software supports measurement synchronization, record reading and export to Excel.
Apply a suitable coupling agent evenly, keep the probe steady and review the waveform before recording the result. Keep the same layer and velocity settings across comparable samples. The published probe ranges use the stated 2200m/s reference and depend on the material being measured.
