Portable Gas Detectors — Single-Gas and Multi-Gas
Compare portable gas detectors by target gas, measurement range and sampling method. Start with what the instrument must measure, then choose a single-gas model, a complete multi-gas configuration or a leak-investigation tool. The groups below lead to current product pages and their order options.
Find the Right Measurement Task
- Ammonia (NH3): Pump or Diffusion
- Oxygen (O2) Concentration
- Four-Gas Monitors: LEL/EX, O2, CO and H2S
- Other Multi-Gas Configurations
- Carbon Monoxide (CO) Readings and Alarm Formats
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Measurement
- Combustible-Gas Readings and Leak Investigation
- Other Gas-Specific Instruments
- Select One Gas: Configurable Single-Gas Products
- Laser Methane: Handheld Instrument or Component
Ammonia (NH3): Pump or Diffusion
Compare the NH3 range and sampling arrangement. Dedicated SKY2000, MH-1200H-S and AR8500 models have different order menus; configurable single-gas products provide additional NH3 choices.
- SKY2000-NH3 — internal pump; six ranges
- MH-1200H-S-NH3 — diffusion; four ranges
- AR8500 — handheld NH3 option
Oxygen (O2) Concentration
Choose an oxygen concentration span and sampling package. The higher SKY2000 range options are separate order variants, not extra ranges of every O2 detector.
- SKY2000-O2 — pump; 0-25/30/50/100% Vol variants
- MH-1200H-S-O2 — diffusion; 0-25/30% Vol
- K100A-O2 — O2-30VOL option
Four-Gas Monitors: LEL/EX, O2, CO and H2S
Compare the exact combustible-gas, oxygen, carbon-monoxide and hydrogen-sulfide combination. Pump packages and diffusion instruments are separate options; channel count alone does not identify the gases.
- Portable four-gas monitor — diffusion
- Portable four-gas monitor — internal pump
- BH-4A — standard and with-pump variants
- BH-4S — O2, EX, H2S and CO
- HT1805 — CO, H2S, O2 and LEL
Other Multi-Gas Configurations
These products serve different gas combinations from the standard four-gas group above. Choose the complete gas set first, then compare extra readings and data functions.
- BH-4S — O3, SO2, NO2 and CO2
- K-600M — CO, NO2, O2 and SO2
- Six-gas pump model — CO, NO2, SO2, H2S, VOC and O3
Carbon Monoxide (CO) Readings and Alarm Formats
Choose a handheld concentration meter or an alarm format according to the task. CO is not CO2. Compare power, reading functions, alarm controls and the required product documentation.
- ST9700 — CO and ambient temperature
- AS8700A — CO and ambient temperature
- HT1000 — hold and maximum readings
- MH-1200H-S-CO — three range options
- BH-90A CO — 0-1000 ppm
- Rechargeable CO detector — triple alarms
- Compact CO alarm — CR2032 power
- BH-H3 — wall-powered combustible-gas and CO alarm
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Measurement
CO2 concentration measurement is separate from a CO reading or a combustible-gas indication. Compare the exact CO2 model and range for the intended task; do not infer room-monitoring or industrial suitability from a broad search term alone.
Combustible-Gas Readings and Leak Investigation
Flexible probes help access a suspected leak point; a concentration meter provides its stated measuring format. Do not treat a sensor response list as independent identification of every gas.
- AS8800L — flexible leak probe
- MT8800 / AT8800L — model options
- CGD02A — flexible probe and bar display
- CGD02 — diffusion, 0-100% LEL display
- CH4 or EX — separate 0-100% LEL options
- Digital natural-gas detector — ppm display
Other Gas-Specific Instruments
Use the full gas name, required range and sampling arrangement to find a model. H2 and H2S, NO and NO2, and C2H4 and C2H4O are separate gas identities.
- MH-1200H-S-H2 — diffusion hydrogen
- BH-90A H2 — hydrogen range options
- MH-1200H-S-H2S — hydrogen sulfide
- MH-1200H-S-CL2 — chlorine gas
- SKY2000-NO2 — pump nitrogen dioxide
- Portable NO2 — five range/resolution options
- SKY2000-O3 — pump ozone
- BH-90A O3 — ozone range options
- K-600 — pump ozone
- Portable PH3 — 20/200 ppm options
- K-100A PH3 — 20/50/100 ppm options
- SKY2000-CH2O — pump formaldehyde
- BH-90A C6H6 — benzene
- BH-90A C2H4 — ethylene
- SKY2000-N2 — nitrogen
Select One Gas: Configurable Single-Gas Products
These products offer a gas selector, not all-gas simultaneous measurement. HCN, HCl, NO and SO2 are available as named options on the OLED and pump products; the 18-configuration product also includes a separate C2H4O option.
- OLED diffusion detector — 14 named gas options
- Internal-pump detector — 14 named gas options
- Single-gas family — 18 gas/range configurations
Laser Methane: Handheld Instrument or Component
The handheld remote detector and the integration probe are different product types. Select a complete remote instrument or a sensor component according to the equipment requirement.
Pump or Diffusion: Compare Within the Required Gas
Use a model with an explicitly stated internal pump when the selected procedure needs that sampling arrangement. A diffusion model with an optional external pump is a separate package decision. Confirm tubing, filters, connections and supplied accessories; an option name alone does not establish the full sampling system.
Pumped vs diffusion gas detectors explains the comparison. Gas-specific ranges and product packages remain on the corresponding product pages.
Before Selecting an Order Option
- Record every required gas, measurement unit and concentration span.
- Match that requirement to the exact model and current variant; avoid transferring a family-wide specification to every gas option.
- Compare sampling, alarm controls, display, records, power and supplied accessories.
- Check the instrument instructions, calibration needs and documentation required for the intended task.
Selection Guides

- Multi-gas detector selection and maintenance
- Ammonia detector selection for refrigeration work
- Oxygen detector selection for confined spaces
- Bump testing and calibration: what each does
Open a product to select its configuration and review current price and purchase options. If the exact gas, range or package is not shown, send the model and measurement requirement for a configuration check.
Selection note: Follow the supplied instrument instructions and applicable site procedures. This collection is a product comparison, not a site-specific monitoring design or risk assessment.
